Introduction
Remote Commands are actions you can schedule to execute on a
remote machine. To open a new Remote
Command select File / New / Remote Command. These commands can be
used to restart the remote application or PC, turn on or off the
attached display device etc. To see which commands are
available, click the New Command button on the Toolbar (represented
by a "Power" icon) and select the Command tab.
You can create your own custom commands to control display devices
that are capable of receiving instructions via a serial cable.
Choosing a Schedule option
ASAP (Fire and forget) Processing
There are two options available for scheduling remote
Commands. The default option, shown at left, will have the
command executed as soon as possible. Publishing the command
in this manner will cause it to be valid for a period of 72
hours. Assuming the remote CM Player contacts the service
within that period, the command will be run as soon as it is
received. If the remote display device does not call the CM
Service within this period, it will not receive the order.
Scheduled Processing
You may also schedule the command to execute at a given time in the
future or, with the recurring schedules, at a pattern of your
choosing. For example, you may wish to turn off the screens
on all your devices at 18:00 each day and have them turn on at
08:00.
Choosing a Command
All the available commands are listed in the Command tab of the
remote command editor. There are two types of commands; Device
Specific and Generic. Device Specific Commands are denoted with the
Serial connector icon and refer to commands that require a serial
connection to the display device. The Generic Commands act upon the
remote software or PC.
After selecting the appropriate command, it can be published by
clicking Publish.
CampaignManager currently has built-in remote hardware commands
for NEC public display models LCD4010 and LCD4610. You can create
your own device specific commands by using the "Custom Serial
Command"
