Advantages of using ATSC 3.0 for your digital signage
For the last couple of months, we have been receiving requests to support ATSC 3.0. For the uninitiated, ATSC 3.0 is the latest and most promising broadcast technology that can help save expensive network costs and deliver content to remote, hard-to-reach areas where traditional connectivity methods like internet or cable might be absent, limited, or unreliable.
We are glad to announce that the Ryarc platform now fully supports ATSC 3.0 datacasting and can leverage existing infrastructure, such as broadcast towers and satellites, to distribute content. This will help customers deliver Ultra HD or immersive content without worrying about expensive data costs or choking the network bandwidth pipe. With ATSC 3.0, content can be simultaneously distributed to multiple devices within the broadcast area with a single transmission. The solution is well-suited for Digital Signage, Audio, and Edge device management.
Though ATSC 3.0 is currently available in limited countries like the USA, South Korea, Brazil, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, it is very likely that more countries will adopt it due to the technology’s inherent advantages. For now, ATSC 3.0 is drawing a lot of interest in the United States, which is not surprising given that it has one of the world’s most outrageous cellular data costs.
